A Sports Fan's Christmas Wish List

by Travis Pulver 17. December 2011 16:26

There is snow on the ground; football on television almost every night; baseball trades/news almost daily; college basketball is rolling and the NBA is right around the corner! It’s a good time to be a sports fan. Since its cold outside, what are else are you going to do, but stay inside and watch the game?

In the spirit of the holidays, I have decided to come up with a Sports Fan’s Christmas Wish List in the form of the 12 Days of Christmas. I call the “12 Days of Sports-mas.”

In the interest of not boring you to death and losing you as a reader forever, I’ll go right to the final verse of the song:

Me me me me me me me me meeeeee (gotta warm up the vocal chords)! Here goes:

Mmmmm

On the twelfth day of Sports-mas my true love gave to me--

12 Beers to enjoy during the BCS games (work week; can’t get too tipsy)!

11 Months of free Sirius radio (love the sports programs)

10 Years without labor issues in ANY professional sports (wait; we already have that one, right?)

9 Bags of chips and queso from Qdoba (a must for bowl season and the NFL playoffs)

8 Spare hours on my DVR for the Christmas Day NBA games

7 Five-star recruits for Texas A&M football (especially on offense; they need some help going into the SEC next season)

6 Tickets to Opening Day at Yankee Stadium (is there a better baseball experience anywhere?)

5 Dozen hot wings from Hooters (or BW3s; I’m flexible)!

4 Straight quarters of good play from the Dallas Cowboys

3 Wins for the Houston Texans in the post season (four if they become a wildcard team)

2 Pitchers traded to my favorite baseball team (the Rangers need it)

and a whole lot of help for the Houston Astros (for the children!)!

Santa, I tried to keep it simple on purpose. I  figured if I went for Super Bowl tickets, World Series tickets, a trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, one of Peyton Manning's paychecks, and a chance to pitch to Albert Pujols while he has one-hand tied behind his back I'd be pushing it a little.

I won't be too upset if I don't get all of those. I understand that you have millions o kids to worry about, and they are much, much more important than an overweight sports fan/writer like myself. If you could manage at least No 2, 3 and 5 I'll be happy. Ohh--peace on earth and good will towards all men would be nice too (that didnt fit with the song).

Merry Christmas Sports Fans! And have a Happy New Year!
